As a naked man/woman stranded on a mysterious island, cold and hungry, you must hunt, gather, craft items, plant crops, and build shelter to survive. Use skill and cunning to kill, hatch and ride dinosaurs and ancient creatures living on ARK and team up with hundreds of players or play locally!

TAME, TRAIN, BREED AND RIDE DINOSAURS IN A LIVING ECOSYSTEM

Dinosaurs, Creatures & Breeding – Over 50+ at the start of Early Access and 100+ planned by final release – can be tamed with a challenging capture and attraction process. This includes weakening a wild creature in order to knock it unconscious and then boost it up again with the right food. Once tamed, you can give your pet dinosaur commands which it will follow, depending on how well you have trained and tamed it. Haudinos can level up and require food. You can also give them armor, items to carry for you, they can hunt and bring the loot to your base. This depends on their strength. Larger animals can be saddled to ride them. Fly over snow-capped mountains with a pterodactyl, lift allies over ramparts, run through the jungle with a pack of raptors, stomp over an enemy base on a gigantic brontosaurus, or chase your prey on the back of an angry T-Rex! Be part of a dynamic ecosystem cycle with its own predator and prey hierarchy where you are just one creature among many different species in the fight for dominance and survival. Among other things, domestic dinosaurs can mate with the opposite sex to enable selective breeding of successful generations using a trait-based system and recombining genetic heritage. This process includes, among other things, egg-based incubation and pregnancy in mammals. Or, in short, breed and raise dinobabies!

FOOD, WATER, TEMPERATURE AND WEATHER

You must eat and drink to survive - using different plants and meats with different attributes, including human flesh. A functioning water supply in your home and inventory is necessary. Every physical action costs you food and drink, long-distance journeys are fraught with danger. The weight of your inventory slows you down, the day/night cycle along with randomly generated weather conditions add further challenge, while temperatures change, making you hungry or thirsty more quickly. Build a campfire or dwelling and a wide range of clothing and armor to protect yourself against regional threats and extreme temperature fluctuations using the dynamic indoor/outdoor insulation calculation system!

HARVEST, BUILD STRUCTURES, COLOR ITEMS

While you can cut down entire forests and mine metal and other valuable resources, you can also build massive, multi-story structures from complex, interlocking parts. Included are ramps, columns, windows, doors, gates, remote control gates, trapdoors, water pipes, faucets, generators, cables, lots of other electrical devices, ladders and many, many other things. Structures have a mechanic of collapsing if the foundation is destroyed. Therefore, it is important to strengthen your buildings. All structures and items can be painted to customize the design of your home and color dynamic, pixel-paintable signs, signboards, and other decorative objects to your liking. Houses reduce the extremes of the weather and provide shelter for you and your supplies. Weapons, clothing and armor can also be colored to match your personal style.

PLANT, CREATE AND CULTIVATE

Choose seeds from the wild vegetation around you, plant them in beds you place, water them and fertilize them with fertilizer (Everything leaves behind feces after calories are consumed, which can be composted. Some fertilizers are better than others). Pay attention to your plants and they will grow and produce delicious and rare fruits, which can also be used to cook a wide variety of logical recipes and potions. Explore the island to find more rare seeds with useful properties! Vegetarians and vegans will thrive and it will be possible to conquer ARK without violence!

SUMMON THE ULTIMATE LIFEFORMS

By bringing very rare offerings to special summoning locations, you can secure the attention of one of ARK's godlike, mythological creatures who will then appear for battle. These gigantic monstrosities provide an end-game objective for the most experienced groups of players and your army of pet dinosaurs, and will provide an extremely valuable haul of items if you manage to defeat them at all.

TRUNK SYSTEM

Create a tribe and add your friends. All of your pet dinosaurs can be commanded by an ally. Your tribe will also have the ability to respawn at any of your home spawn points. Promote members to core leaders to ease management. Distribute key items and access codes to provide access to your village!

RPG STATS

All items are crafted using blueprints that have different stats and qualities and require appropriate resources to craft. More remote and hard-to-reach locations across the Ark tend to offer better materials, including the highest mountains, darkest caves, and greatest depths of the ocean! Level up your character by gaining experience points, level up your animals and learn new “engrams” to be able to craft items from memory without the need for blueprints, even if you die! Customize your character's appearance by changing hair, eyes, skin tone, and a range of body proportions.

HARDCORE MECHANICS

Every item you build has a certain durability and will break if you use it too much and don't repair it. When you leave the game, your character remains asleep in the virtual world. Your inventory is divided into boxes within the character. Everything can be looted or stolen, so you have to ensure your safety by building, teaming up with other players or taming dinosaurs as guards. Death is permanent and you can even knock other players unconscious, capture them, force food on them to bend them to your will, drain their blood for your own transfusion, or collect their feces to turn into fertilizer. Or you can use them as food for your carnivorous friends!

EXPLORE AND DISCOVER

The mysterious ARK is an impressive and imposing environment, consisting of natural and unnatural structures above and below ground and also underwater. As you explore the island's secrets, you will find many randomly generated creatures and rare blueprints. You can also find exploration notes dynamically brought into the game, written and beautifully decorated thousands of years ago by previous inhabitants of the ARK. These creatively represent the creatures and the backstory of the ARK. Reveal the entire map through exploration, mark particularly interesting points and build a compass or a GPS system around exploring with other players with whom you can communicate via voice, text or long distance telephones can communicate. Build and draw signs for other players to help them or lead them astray… However… How will you challenge the Creators to conquer the ARK?
